Implementing the Community CharterThis is the main page for materials to help local governments in British
Columbia implement the provisions of the
Community Charter. The legislation was given Royal Assent on
May 29, 2003 and came into force on January 1, 2004. The material on this web site has been developed in consultation with
local governments, the Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM)
and the Local Government Management Association (LGMA).
