Infrastructure & Finance Division
The Local Government Infrastructure and Finance Division provides
support and statutory approvals to local governments and improvement
districts in the administrative, financial and
engineering spheres.
The objectives of division are as follows
Objective: Financial Advisory Services to Local Government
- Provide advice on all aspects of local government finance
- Assist in maintaining the financial viability, continuity and stability of local government
- Promote sound financial management in local government
- Improve financial reporting practices of local government financial management
- Help the with administrative processes
Objective: Financial and Statistical Information
- Provide a complete, reliable and consistent source of data on local governments in British Columbia
- Promoting good financial and reporting practices
Local Government Statistics
Objective: Local Government Infrastructure Grants
- Assist municipalities and regional districts to address high priority health and environmental concerns by funding projects that remove health hazards or provide improved environmental protection
- Provide grants to municipalities and regional districts to fund a portion of their green infrastructure
- Allocate available infrastructure grant funds fairly and equitably between competing projects based on a rigorous technical evaluation by the Municipal Engineering Services Branch

Objective: Engineering and Technical Services to Local Governments
Municipal Engineering Services provides engineering coordination and evaluation for ministry programs and engineering advice to local governments regarding planning, construction and maintaining infrastructure.Objective: Financial and Administrative Advisory Services to Improvement Districts
- Provide advice on all aspects of improvement district finance and administration
- Improve reporting practices of improvement districts
- Assist in conversion of improvement districts to municipalities or to other forms of governance
