KELOWNA'S LOCALMOTION PROJECT NOW OPEN

KELOWNA - May 2, 2008 -  The Rails with Trails project, a multi-use off-road pathway adjacent to the Kelowna Pacific Railway, is now officially open. The City of Kelowna received matching funds of $1 million from the provincial government's LocalMotion program to construct this first phase of the Rails with Trails project. Construction of the $2.1 million project began in October 2007.  Community Services Minister Ida Chong and Kelowna-Lake Country MLA Al Horning (left side of photo) joined Kelowna Mayor Sharon Shepherd and Don Knox, President of the Kelowna Cycling Coalition and members of the public for the ribbon-cutting ceremonies.
