VANCOUVER -
Jan. 15, 2008 - B.C.'s Minister Responsible for the Public
Service Agency Ida Chong (left) and Jessica McDonald, Deputy
Minister to the Premier, congratulate a Lower Mainland silver award
recipient, Liz Bicknell, at the first regional Premier's Awards for
Innovation and Excellence.
Bicknell is a member of the Sea-to-Sky
Working Group — an inter-agency team that won the silver award in
the cross-government integration category for its work to ensure
that operational decisions and activities along the Sea-to-Sky
Corridor are balanced regarding land use, shared legacies and
establishment of venues for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter
Games.
The working group is made up of representatives
from the province's Integrated Land Management Bureau, the Ministry
of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, the Ministry of Forests
and Range, the Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation,
the Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts, the Ministry of
Community Services, the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of
Transportation.
The annual awards represent the BC Public
Service's pinnacle recognition event to highlight and acknowledge
achievements in the categories of cross-government integration,
innovation, leadership, legacy, organizational excellence,
partnership and service excellence.
A series of award presentations are scheduled
between January and March to recognize regional and provincial
winners. The dates and locations are: The Lower Mainland regional
awards Jan. 15 in Vancouver, the Northern regional awards Jan. 31 in
Prince George, the Interior regional awards Feb. 6 in Kamloops, the
Vancouver Island regional awards Feb. 25 and the Provincial Awards
to take place in Victoria on March 10.
The BC Public Service is the province’s largest
corporate employer and was recently selected as one of B.C.’s Top 40
Employers.
